St. Blaise, believed to have been martyred in the persecution of Licinius, early 4th century was the bishop of Sebaste in Armenia and is much venerated by the Eastern Catholic Church. Using two blessed candles, St. Blaise performed a miracle on a young boy who was choking to death on a bone in his throat. The Church offers the faithful the traditional "Blessing of Throats" on the feast of St. Blaise, February 3.
