Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church has always valued education as a tool to foster one's growth in knowledge, faith, and prosperity. Founded on December 31, 1985, with a personal donation of $10,000, the Church established this endowment fund to solidify and provide financial independence to the education mission of the parish. The parish sponsors numerous religious programs including a parochial school with grades PK3 to 12, the CCD classes for students not attending the Shiner Catholic School, spiritual retreats for youth and adults, diocesan and national youth conventions, and local theology classes for young and mature adults. Additionally, the Religious Education Endowment Fund supports parish educational ministries aimed at addressing the spiritual needs of young families, the elderly, the widowed, the sick, the homebound, and others.
In 2005, the Shiner Taste of Texas Gala was initiated to provide support for the fund. The Endowment Fund has grown to over $880,000 and throughout the years has utilized $250,000 in earnings to fund the various projects of the religious education mission. The Gala has become a major fundraiser for the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Religious Education Endowment Fund and the goal of the Gala is to build the fund principal to $1,500,000 by 2015.
